Hello NG,

I tried to install fontconfig-2.2.1 on my LFS System. './configure' and
'make' finished without problems, but after I typed 'make install' I got
the following error:

not overwriting existing /etc/fonts/local.conf
if [ x = x ]; then fc-cache/fc-cache -f -v; fi
/sources/bauen/fontconfig-2.2.1/fc-cache/.libs/lt-fc-cache:

/sources/bauen/fontconfig-2.2.1/fc-cache/.libs/lt-fc-cache:

Any advice would be appreciated.

At a guess I would say your existing /etc/fonts/local.conf is confusing the
installation. Try renaming it, then try installing again.

I deleted it and tried it again, but I get the same error :(

If your problem is that fontconfig doesn't install stuff in /etc/fonts,
try renaming the _directory_, e.g. to /etc/fonts.bak
