The wpa_supplicant page in BLFS 8.3 provides this required patch link:

http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/patches/blfs/8.3/wpa_supplicant-2.6-upstream_fixes-2.patch

but that URL does not exist. Doing s/8.3/svn/ does yield an existing
URL; is the patch there also correct for 8.3? (8.2 has a different
wpa_supplicant-2.6-upstream_fixes-1.patch)

Bruce, this one is your forte - the 8.3 page on the website doesn't
exist whatsoever for patches.

Sorry that we overlooked this, Steve! Just pull it out of SVN for now,
this package had security patches that constituted the -2 patch.

Thanks for confirming that's the right patch.

Well, the s/8.3/svn method has worked for several other patches, but not
for openssh, which is at 7.7p1 in 8.3 but 7.8p1 in svn. Is it ok to use
the svn patch with openssh-7.7pn1 or should I install both openssh-7.8p1
and the patch from svn, and if the latter, will I have to make an other
adjustments to BLFS 8.3?

Hopefully, there _will_ be an 8.3 page for patches. Meantime, all the (old and
newer) patches can be downloaded from
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/patches/downloads/<package-name>

Thanks (also to renodr, who gave me the same tip offlist), that's good
to know. Why isn't that location used in the books instead of a
separate directory for each release, which seems to be more of a
maintenance burden?
