Hi.

I have a lfs-6.2 with svn blfs. I've installed kde 3.5.5 with the
instructions of 3.5.2. No problem. But the java plugin doesn't work.
According to about:plugins, only this is detected:

Java Plug-in Java Plug-in KJAS for Konqueror kjavaappletviewer.so
application/x-java-applet - Java Applet (class)
application/x-java-bean - JavaBeans (jar)

The link to the plugin is in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. The flash
plugin is there too and detected, so konqueror knows where to look
for. I've tried to install jre and jdk (binary versions) and
recompile but with no result. How can I have java with konqueror?

Thanks
Shawn

Hi Alberto:

How are you? :)

I assume you have installed the java package as per the blfs book. I
didn't compile the java sources I only installed the binary from java.

In your konqueror settings find the "java & javascript" tab.

1. Turn on "Enable Java Globally"
2. Ensure your path is set to $your_java_path/bin/java.
3. Turn off "Use security manager".

Goto java.com and play some games :)

By the way, my about:plugins reports the same as yours so I assume you
have a config problem.

Good Luck,
Shawn

3. Turn off "Use security manager".
Argh! Here it is! How could I guess that a security option was causing
me the problem??

It works now :)

Thanks
